Dealer Enquiries WelcomePaper Tape Emulation for CNC Machine Tools

Description

The SK-201 Paper-Tape Emulator has been developed by Network Security International to provide operators of paper-tape loaded CNC machine tools and integration path with present day CAD-CAM systems. The SK-201 connects to the machine tool controller in place of the paper-tape reader and presents a configurable serial interface via a standard 25 pin RS-232 connection. Data transfer is uni-directional originating from the CAD-CAM computer system. A small data buffer is used to support the flow controlled transfer from the computer system whicle allowing a continuous data input into the CNC machine tool controller. A genuine timed emulation of a GNT model 28 paper-tape reader is used; as such its use with any system capable of being fitted with the GNT-28 will be able to operate with the SK-201. This is not the case with simple serial-to-parallel convertor units (which are primarily used to drive printing devices) which can operate too fast for some systems designed for the more pedestrian paper tape data delivery.

Installation

Other than physically mounting the SK-201 within the controller cabinet of the machine tool, and connection to a suitable power source, no connection or alteration is neccessary to the machine tool system. This minimises the impact on any warranty or mainenance obligations in connection with the machine tool system.

Network Security International Limited are pleased to discuss your requirements for support in the installation and commissioning of this product with your system.
